Education Session: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Monday, July 17th – 8:30am-9:30am in 206AB
A spoof on the show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” James Filsinger, President & CEO of Yapta, will conduct a quiz competition with select audience members in which the goal is to correctly answer a series of 10 consecutive multiple-choice questions about corporate airfare and hotel prices. The questions are educational in nature and of increasing difficulty. Each question is worth a (small) specified amount of money; the amounts are cumulative in the first round, but not in the second. If the contestant gives a wrong answer to any question, their game is over and their winnings are reduced to $10 for tier-one questions, $50 for tier-two questions, and $100 for tier-three questions. However, the contestant has the option of “walking away” without giving an answer after being presented with a question, in which case the game ends and the contestant is guaranteed to walk away with all the money they have previously earned. Attend this session if you’re a corporate travel manager that wants to gain some surprising insights into airfare and hotel pricing – and have some fun doing it.
Panel (sponsored by Yapta): Geopolitical Disruptions Impacting Global Business Travel
Center Stage from 11:00am-11:30am
We’ll be on stage before the panel begins to present awards to several of our customers who have hit milestone savings.
Panelists scheduled to appear: Tom Derry, CEO at Institute for Supply Management, Michael Gips, Chief Global Knowledge and Learning Officer at ASIS International, Lynn Shotwell, Executive Director for the Council for Global Immigration, Peggy Smith, President & CEO at Worldwide ERC and Panel Moderator, Courtney Hammond, Principal at Deloitte Consulting LLP.
True to the theme of “Convergence”, as an industry we are experiencing a convergence of geopolitical leanings that impact business travel and buying decisions. Recent issues at hand include the Visa Waiver Program, proposed travel bans, and the electronics travel ban. To fully understand the impact of the current state of affairs, we have gathered the leaders from four associations that intersect and influence corporate travel. Risk and security, immigration, relocation, and procurement, are critical components to today’s corporate travel paradigm and ultimately the ability to realize corporate objectives. You won’t want to miss this exciting panel, together for the first time as they address current issues facing our industries, global influences, and the economy.
